Mudlark and the Royal Shakespeare Company present

What is this all about?

Two families in the same town have loathed one another for years. But a boy from one and a girl from the other fall in love - deep, sweet and destructive. You know the tale of Romeo and Juliet but now you can see it happening live and in real time - in modern Britain and on Twitter. Six characters live the story over the five weeks of Such Tweet Sorrow and you can experience it with them. Find out more.

Such Tweet Sorrow

Juliet Capulet

A fun-loving, gentle and polite 15 year old, she obeys her father’s every word, has never had a boyfriend and finds solace on the amazingly chatty world of the Internet. Juliet is never seen hanging around the streets - partly because she wouldn’t be allowed but also because she enjoys the privacy of her room.

Lives with her dad, Capulet, and step-mum. Her brother Tybalt is at boarding school.

She's still at school, studying for last year of GCSE’s (year 11). Constantly gets top marks in her maths, science and music. Although still a straight A student in all other subjects, she doesn’t find them as exciting.

She Likes - Writing music and playing her guitar, problem solving puzzles, shopping, hanging out with big sister Jess, annoying Tybalt, playing ‘Brain Academy’ on her DS and anything to do with ‘Twilight’.

She Dislikes - How strict her father is, history, the cool girls at school (because she’s a little jealous of them), fork scratching on a plate, the way she looks.

Juliet knows all about the Capulet family hatred for the Montagues but she was only a baby when her mother was killed in a car accident with  Montague Senior and the whole feud seems strange and distant to her.
